Volunteer Coordinator

Suggested work hours: 2 hours a week (max) - Flexible

Job Description
The main role of the Volunteer Coordinator would be to manage the volunteers placed within the organisation on behalf of the Board of Bancroft Community Centre. The post-holder will be reporting to the Board of Directors of BCA.

Knowledge and Skills required for the position

• Management of 5-6 staff members of volunteer positions within a previous post
• Good communication skills
• Ability to identify volunteer needs and to manage them through 1:1 reviews, mentoring or through appraisal type of meetings as required.

Typical duties would include:
1   Working alongside the BCA Board of Directors to appoint volunteers
2  Ensuring proper induction of the volunteers
3  Identifying job opportunities within the organisation that best match with the skills and interests of the volunteer concerned.
4  Identifying appropriate training for volunteers in partnership with Tamworth Volunteer Centre.
5  Providing internal support to the volunteers
6  Managing rota of the volunteers and arranging replacements where necessary.
7  Managing the reimbursement of expenses to volunteers where appropriate and in accordance with BCA policies
8  Conducting 1:1 reviews and arranging periodic approvals.
9  Ensure the provision of a good working environment for the volunteers
10  To be a voice for the volunteers in respect of their rights and privileges while ensuring that they meet their responsibilities in line with the duties outlined and agreed.

Volunteer Office Administration

Maximum hours – 20 hours per week From 9 am to 1 pm every weekday Can be job shared by up to 5 volunteers, one for each day

The post holder will be reporting to the Volunteer Co-ordinator.
Knowledge and Skills required for this position.
Training will be given where necessary.

• Handling telephone calls
• Good communication skills
• Use of computers especially Microsoft office and email
• Use of office equipment such as photocopiers, lamination etc.
• Literacy and numeracy skills (Level 2)

Job responsibilities will include:
1  Telephone call management including making and receiving calls, logging calls as per protocol
2  Managing drop-in enquiries as per in-house protocol. 3  Managing resource bookings
4  Ensuring booked in clients are settled in with appropriate resources, refreshment facilities etc.
5  Helping with the preparation of publicity materials for various programs at BCA as per instructions
6  Managing publicity materials on the notice boards
7  Collecting monies as instructed in the absence of BCA director
8  Liaising with clients to help them through their chosen activity for the day

Volunteer Work Club coordinator

Maximum hours – 6 hours a week From 10 am to 12 noon on Mondays and Thursdays Can be job shared by up to 2 volunteers, one for each day (3 hours)

The post holder will be reporting to the Volunteer Co-ordinator.

Knowledge and Skills required for this position. Training will be given where necessary.
• Understanding of how to produce a CV
• Use of computers especially Microsoft office and email
• Use of office equipment such as photocopiers, lamination etc.
• Literacy and numeracy skills (Level 2)
• Understanding of how to use online resources to apply for jobs
• Ability to assess Entry 3 and Level 2 based portfolios produced by clients

Job responsibilities will include:
1  Assist clients with CV preparation
2  Assist clients with setting up emails
3  Supporting clients with their learning
4  Providing appropriate career advice or linking clients to career advisors.
5  Assessing portfolios produced for the Employability Skills Program
